BOATS are a constant fascination for me. I like their shapes, their lazy list between tides, the boundless transformation of the shapes and colours in their reflections which float, bob and effervesce on the surrounding waters.
The first is a narrow boat on the Norfolk Broads. The second - the reflection a a trawler at Brancaster Staithe. The rest are all reflections of boats seen in Brixham, Devon.

Early one morning down under a small road bridge crossing the Kennet and Avon Canal , near Devizes, I saw the light! Looking east the rising sun dazzled and glared, painting the sky and water alike with a light gold, softening and blurring the scene. Looking west the projected light brought everything into focus with high detail and clarity.
Whilst visiting the art and sculpture exhibition at Delamore House in Devon, I came across this glade. A small copse of rhododendron trees just after the pink and purple petals of the flowers had fallen to the ground. The sun, weaving its way through the trees gave highlights to this rich and high piled carpet.
I have framed them in chunky old gold frames to give them the grandeur they deserve.
